Beautiful Amethyst is one of the most recognizable stones in the world! This classic semi-precious gem features a gorgeous purple color that is often transparent and deeply hued. A member of the Quartz family of minerals, its purple color ranges from nearly black to pale lilac and is caused by iron impurities. Found all over the world, this stone's most famous localities include Mexico, Brazil, Africa and the USA.
This stone has remained popular throughout history; in ancient times it was used to represent one of the 12 Tribes of Judah, and today in the modern era it is traditionally known as the birthstone of the month of February. Dry Gulch carries many beautiful cuts, colors and shapes of this pretty stone; use Amethyst to bring a little piece of history and beauty to your next project!
These beads measure about 5mm long by 10mm wide and the hole size measures about .5mm to 1mm in diameter. The strands measure about 7.5" inches long and there are approximately 40 beads on a strand.
All photos have been taken indoors with daylight, but as always, computer and mobile screens display colors differently.
