Brioche Agate

This beautiful member of the Agate family is a unique design choice because of its wide range of warm colors like white, brown, cream, coffee, ivory and chocolate.  A type of Brecciated Agate (also called Breche Agate or Breccia Agate), it features brown (rather than red) patches, banding, splotches, stripes and more.  Other names for Brioche Agate include Chocolate Agate, Brioche Jasper and Brioche Opal.  It is a great option for handmade jewelry projects.  Our Brioche Agate was mined in Madagascar, Africa; then cut, polished and drilled in China.

Brioche Agate has a sister stone that is known as Petrifed Wooden Opal, Wood Opal or Fossil Opal.  This stone is opalized petrified wood and is very similar in color and pattern to Brioche Agate, though it is a different and softer mineral make-up that usually comes from Australia, Indonesia or the USA.
