Magnesite

Magnesite is a mined stone that generally begins in a chalky cream or white color.  It features a darker web-like veining and matrix that, when dyed, gives it a natural organic effect, similar to the veins found in turquoise.  Magnesite is short for magnesium carbonate and is famous for its dye-able and carving qualities.  We have several cuts and shapes of magnesite including nuggets, skulls, pumpkins, skinny rondelles, pendants and more.  They were all mined, dyed and carved in East Asia.  Sky blue dyed magnesite makes an excellent turquoise gemstone substitute because of its rich color.

• Fun Trivia: Magnesite is also used to make fireworks because it's rich in magnesium!
